David was born on May 24, 1940, to Clarence and Beulah Berryhill in Manatee, FL. After David graduated from Manatee High School in 1958, he went on to graduate from Wayland Baptist College, Plainview, TX on May 15, 1971 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Religion.

In 1957, David met Betty Jo Pope at church. David and Betty were married on November 18, 1960.  David and Betty went on to have two children and adopted one child - Jody, Monica and Tracy. They also fostered two children, Hetty and Kevin.

David surrendered to the ministry in 1958.  He pastored his first church in 1963.  He went on to Pastor thirteen churches across Florida, Texas, Missouri, and South Dakota.  He was also a chaplain for the Palmetto Fire Department in 1963.  He served as a Home Missionary in South Dakota from 1977 to 1986 where he was pastoring three churches simultaneously for a period of time and was the Vice President of the Northern Plains Baptist Convention for 2 years.   In 1992 he obtained his real estate license while continuing to serve as pastor.  In 2000 David was called as pastor of the First Baptist Church of Elsey and served there until he retired in 2021.

David enjoyed painting, working in his yard, planting flowers, and watching his birds and hummingbirds.  He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association (even though he never owned a motorcycle).  He loved to talk and never, ever met a stranger.

David was preceded in death by his father and mother.  He is survived by his wife, Betty, his children: Jody (Theresa) Berryhill – Longview TX, Monica (Toby) Thacker, Green Ridge, MO, and Tracy (Doug) Hamilton – Shawnee, KS.  Grandchildren: Ashley, Cortney, Ryan, Natasha, Nathan, Paige, Allison, Spencer and Trey. Nine great grandchildren. One sister Ethel Pyle - Palmetto, FL and one brother Larry Berryhill – Tampa, FL.

David loved God, served him faithfully his entire life, and led many people to follow Him. He is now living with Jesus, reunited with his best friend, Bud Gillett, and other friends and family members went before him.
