Obituary

Our family is devastated to announce the unexpected passing of our beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Curtis John Farkas, age 68, on September 3.   Curtis had a unique personality that affected every person he met.  He was gifted with a kind soul and a positivity that impacted the lives of all who knew him.

Curtis was born May 24, 1957 in Montebello, CA to Ronald Louis & Karen Joy (LeRoque) Farkas. Curtis was raised in Rowland Heights, CA.  He graduated from Rowland High School and achieved many honors during his school years including playing the part of Romeo in Shakespeare's, Romeo and Juliet. He was an avid lover of all sports. As a very young child, he learned to read the newspaper by keeping track of the stats of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

He had a way of making you feel like you were the most important person in the room and never found a person he couldn't make laugh.  He loved being a gramps the most and then his love hit yet another level with the birth of his great-grandchildren, Emi, Jackson, Remington, and Peyton. There was never a little one that didn't find his arms wide open to run into!

Curtis loved his boat!  He took such pride in taking people out and giving them a fun day on the lake and spinning the grandkids around on the tube.  He also loved football season and fantasy football! He loved the Chiefs, but the man was a die-hard Rams fan from day one!  He was a trout slayer in the Sierra's and spent many years camping and fishing with his family.

He is survived by his loving mother (Karen and Jack Place), devoted wife (Donna Farkas), daughter (Dana and Ryan Carlson, his grandsons Curtis Amacher, Dane Amacher, and Brycen Carlson, and his 4 great grandchildren.  All of Kimberling City, Reeds Spring, Hawaii and California. He also will be forever missed by his sister (Cathy and Jim Cefalia, Newport CA) and many nieces and nephews in CA and KY).

Curtis was proceeded in death by his father Ronald L. Farkas, brother Christopher R. Farkas, grandparents Louis and Marge Farkas and Fritz and Bert LeRoque.

Memorial serivce will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 13, 2025 in Stumpff Funeral Chapel, Kimberling City, MO with Joel Krueger officiating. Cremation was under the direction of Stumpff Funeral Home, Kimberling City, MO. Reception to follow at Table Rock Lanes, Reeds Spring, MO.
