Obituary

Eddie Dean Bowling, 71, of Galena, Missouri, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on July 22, 2026, surrounded by the people who loved him most. While his family grieves the loss of an incredible husband, father, brother, Papa, and friend, they find comfort in knowing he is finally at peace after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on May 19, 1955, in Pratt, Kansas, Eddie lived a life filled with love, faith, and unwavering devotion to his family and community.

Throughout his career, Eddie faithfully served his community, spending many years as a banker before later serving as the City Clerk for the City of Crane, Missouri, until his retirement. No matter the title he held, he was known for his honesty, dependability, and willingness to help others.

Eddie's greatest joy and proudest accomplishment was his family. He shared 43 wonderful years of marriage with the love of his life, Deborah (Angus) Bowling. Although they were just one month shy of celebrating their 44th wedding anniversary, their marriage was a beautiful example of faithfulness, partnership, and unconditional love.

He was a proud father to Jacinda (Brandon) Weldy and Nathan Bowling (Dina VanBuskirk), but the title he cherished most was "Papa." His grandchildren—Evan, Rylan, Mason, Brooks, Natalie, Paxton, Aubrey, and Emmett—were the light of his life. Whether cheering from the stands at a baseball or football game, watching courtside at a basketball game, celebrating milestones, or simply spending time together, he was their biggest fan. His love wasn't measured by words alone but by his unwavering presence, encouragement, and support.

Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Betty Bowling, and his brother, Daryl Ray Bowling. He is lovingly remembered by his siblings, Sharon Kirby, Linda Wolf, Brenda Daugherty, Johnette Ellingsworth, Dale Bowling, and Marty Bowling, along with countless extended family members and dear friends whose lives were enriched by knowing him.

Outside of family, Eddie found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved sitting outside, reading a good book, starting each morning with a Pop-Tart, spending time with his beloved dog, Charlie, enjoying a round of golf, and never missing an opportunity to help someone in need. As a longtime member and deacon of Crane First Baptist Church, he quietly lived out his faith each day through service, compassion, and a genuine love for others.

Though our hearts are broken, we rejoice in knowing Eddie has heard the words, "Well done, good and faithful servant." His legacy lives on in the family he loved so deeply, the faith he lived so faithfully, and the countless lives he touched through his quiet example of kindness, humility, and selfless love.
