Obituary

Glenn A. Jones of Lampe, MO entered this life February 9, 1927 in Golden, MO and departed this life on September 15, 2024 at the golden age of 97 years, 7 months, 6 days with his daughters by his side. He was born to George and Mary Boyd Jones and had 8 siblings, Evalena, Cora, Lloyd, Goldie, Hazel, Orvan, Mildred, and Eldenna, all of whom preceded him in death.

He was united in marriage May 23, 1950 to Lucille Jane Dennis who beat him in the race to Heaven in 1999.  They had 1 son: Daniel Jones (who went to live with his mom in Heaven on September 23, 2019); and 2 daughters and their husbands Cindy & Bob Parton, NRH, TX, and Glenda & Don Parton, Oak Grove, AR who were left to do their best to try and keep their dad in line.

The family grew to include 9 grandchildren: Penny Jones, Clarissa (Randel) Cassel, Christy (Michael) Scroggins, Daniel (Daphne) Jones, Travis (Tiffany) Parton, Jennifer (Zachary) Wright, Dustin (Antoinette) Parton, and Jordon (Kaylee) Parton, 24 Great Grandchildren, and 7 Great, Great Grandchildren.

Glenn was a carpenter by trade.  He helped build the bridges over Table Rock Lake at Kimberling City, Shell Knob, and Long Creek as well as numerous overpasses in Branson, Springfield, and Kansas City.  He also worked construction on many houses in the area.

Glenn was a fisherman by desire.  The river was one of his favorite places to be and his family has many fond, and some not so fond, memories of numerous trips floating, fishing, seining minnows and noodling, not to forget that what has been caught also has to be cleaned.

Glenn was a pastor by calling.  He got saved and didn't stop fishing for fish, but started fishing for men as well.  He pastored the Old Lampe Church for many years and loved to remind people they needed to be in church and live right.

Glenn, Jane, and family ran the Jones Trading Post south of Lampe for several years until gas got to .40 a gallon and he declared that people would not pay that much for gas and he closed it down.  That store supplied many people with not only gasoline, but many children with their pop and candy needs and the best bologna and cheese you could ever buy.  He also had the privilege of serving the people of Stone Co as Southern Road Commissioner 8 years and Associate Commissioner for another 4 years.

Glenn was blessed to leave behind a large family who loves him so much, many of whom are almost as passionate about the river as he was.  He will be greatly missed by his family, church family, and a host of other relatives and friends.  He invites all of you to a party in Heaven to celebrate Jesus for all eternity.
