Obituary

Gordon Schneider of Reeds Spring, Missouri, passed away on Monday, June 15, 2026, at the age of 85. He was born on November 9, 1940, the 2nd son of Clarence and Ruth Schneider.

Gordon met Linda Hamann in Grant Park Elementary at a young age and somehow knew he would marry her. They both came from a strong farming family. He was married for 60 wonderful years with the love of his life, Linda, until her death on 12/14/20. Gordon and Linda were avid farmers in the Grant Park Area and worked side-by-side, building a wonderful life together.

Gordon had a strong work ethic that made him a successful businessman and father. He always taught us—why pay someone else when you can do it yourself. His strong character has made all of his children: successful, self-motivated, and able to fix just about anything. He always portrayed that if you treat people right, they will treat you right.

In retirement, Gordon & Linda built a home in Sebastian, Florida and resided there for 10 years. From there, they moved to Table Rock Lake by Branson, Missouri for the same amount of time to be closer to their family. They welcomed family and friends to their home. They were wonderful hosts to all of us showing us the sites and events the area held. He was great in the kitchen with his homemade applesauce and cooking ribs and shrimp on the grill. When others helped in the kitchen, he would always add his two cents by saying “Professionally Speaking”, I would do this.

Gordon and Linda still worked side-by-side on landscaping, gardening, and keeping a manicured yard in their home in Branson. In their free time, they enjoyed the lake on their pontoon boat, feeding their birds, playing cards with the neighbors, and playing the Marble Board Game with family and friends at night. When guests would leave, they both enjoyed their Sunday drives in Missouri. There would be times that Mom would say “I think we are Lost” and Dad would say “How can we be lost when we don’t know where we are going”.

His wonderful sense of humor and always making people smile was something he shared with everyone who came in touch with him.

Gordon is survived by his five children: Cyndy (Chuck) Barrie, Mark (Connie) Schneider, Scott Schneider, Vicki (Al) Kuhn, and Jon (Angel) Schneider as well as their grandchildren:

Karl, Jason (Megan), Laura (Tim), Brad (Rachel), Erik (Christine), Sarah (Jon), Andrea, Nathan, Tucker & Madison, Tanner, & Lincoln. He also had five great grandchildren: Lindsay, Waylon, Adelyn, Casey, & Paisley. Special cousin, Yolanda.

A private service will be held at the Heusing Cemetary in Illinois with his immediate family.

Cremation under the direction of Stumpff Funeral Home.
