Jack
Burkhart
Mar 17, 1927 — Jan 28, 2023
Shawnee
Jack Burkhart, of Shawnee, Kansas (formerly of Kimberling City, Mo.) transcended to his heavenly home on Saturday, January 28, 2023. Jack was born to Albert and Myrtle Pruitt Burkhart on the family farm in Oldfield, Missouri on March 17, 1927, delivered by a midwife.
Jack entered the United States Navy in 1945 and served proudly until 1966 when he retired as a Chief Petty Officer. During Jack's tours, he was an electrician on several ships including the Yorktown and Intrepid. Near the end of his Navy service, Jack served as a Navy Recruiter in Pasco-Kennewick, Washington. After retiring from the United States Navy, Jack provided electrical expertise to Oroweat Bakery in California and later to Edison Power in Arizona.
Jack was not one to loaf too long and his relationship with Paradise Landing was a great thing for Jack and the homeowners. Jack enjoyed watching the Royals, Cardinals and Chiefs, while enjoying Gentlemen Jack. Jack was excited about the upcoming Super Bowl with the Chiefs. Let's hope he has a great view from above.
Jack met the love of his life and married Audrey Burkhart in 1954 in San Diego, California. They lived in many locations but ultimately retired in Kimberling City, Missouri, not far from Oldfield where Jack was born. Audrey passed in May 2005. Also predeceasing Jack was his close friend, Leona Fowler.
Jack was Chairman of the Board of the Paradise Landing Homes Association for 22 years. Jack's philosophy was that things needed to be done correctly and he made sure Paradise Landing was in "shipshape" at all times. The family wishes to thank the friends from Paradise Landing for their loyalty, friendship and support shown to Jack, Audrey and his family.
Jack is survived by nephew Harold Harville of El Paso, Texas; niece Susan Welday of Victorville, Calif.; niece, Pamela M. Williams and her husband, Curtis of Santa Anna California; niece Susan Young of Kansas City, Missouri; niece Patti Burkhart of Kansas City, Missouri; niece, Kathy Thompson and her husband Curt of Kansas City, Missouri; niece Jeanne Sweeten and her husband Brad of Kansas City, Missouri; nephew Terry M. Horner and his wife Connie of Johns Creek, Ga.; nephew Dennis L. Horner and his wife Lisa of Lenexa, Kansas. In addition, there are numerous great nephews and nieces of which Jack was very proud.
