James had been a resident of the area for thirty years, moving here from Los Angeles.  He was a self-employed web-site designer.  He was a member of Covenant Life Church in Branson, MO.

A Memorial Service for James Philip Turner of Kimberling City is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Covenant Life Church, 120 N Third St. in downtown Branson.  He died June 23, 2021 , at Shepherd of the Hills Living Center after striving to overcome strokes for several years.

Turner, the self-taught developer of Branson.net, was born December 7, 1965 to George and Myrtle (Aanden) Turner in Santa Monica, CA.  He grew up in Westchester, a suburb of Los Angeles, and earned his Eagle Scout rank, enjoying many scouting trips around California and into the Grand Canyon.

Turner earned a B.A in communications at California State University in Northridge and also obtained a private pilot's license for single engine aircraft, impassioned by trips with his father to air shows.

He followed his parents to southwest Missouri where he worked at Branson TV5 and at Bass Pro Shops in Springfield, also personally launching into web design and video production.  Ozark anglers.com, a fishing site he helped develop, now averages 30,000 monthly users.  Turner also later ran a video/dvd duplicating service for Branson performers and worked for Wyndham Resorts.

He became a scuba diver in the Ozarks, helping with lake cleanups.  He also enjoyed hiking, cycling and photography in the outdoors, as well as any activities with his father and his son Zachary, as his health allowed.

Turner was preceded in death by his parents.  He is survived by his son, Zachary, 18, of Branson, MO, his sister, Lori, of Kimberling City, who served as his caretaker the past seven years, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins spread from the Midwest to California.
