Jean Mitchell, Crane, MO, daughter of D.H. and Vera (McCarty) Hafner, was born on April 18, 1937, in Mountain Grove, MO and departed this life on March 12, 2024, at the age of 86.

Jean had lived in the area for the past 62 years coming from Licking, MO. She had been a salesclerk, was a member of the First Baptist Church, Crane, MO and was an active Sunday School Teacher and a member of the choir.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, D.H and Vera Hafner; husband, Dick Mitchell; brother, Larry Hafner; sister, Carol Nungesser and one great granddaughter, Avery Evans.

Survivors include: two daughters, Peggy Anderson and her husband, Tom of Crane, MO and Kay Brantner and her husband, Robert of Galena, MO; four grandchildren, Tara Leonardt, Lori Walker, Adam Evans and Chad Evans; one step grandson, Daniel Hammons; seven great grandchildren, Blaine, Cameron, Emily, Leeann, Kiley Seamus and Angus; one great, great grandchild, La'Raiyah and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 18, 2024 in First Baptist Church, Crane, MO. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 11:00 with Mearl Laswell officiating. Burial will be in First Baptist Church Cemetery, Crane, MO under the direction of Stumpff Funeral Home, Crane, MO.
