Obituary

Joan Wise Eubanks, of Marionville, Missouri, passed away on Monday, October 5, 2026, at the age of 92. While her passing leaves an empty space in the hearts of many, she will always be remembered for the spirited twinkle in her eye and her ability to make even the darkest days brighter.

Joan was born on March 3, 1934 to Lincoln and Opal Wise of Crane, Missouri. Known for her feisty attitude and quick wit, Joan was always someone you could laugh with. In her youth, she enjoyed playing softball, bowling, skipping school, breaking rules, and keeping everyone on their toes. Later in life, she spent lots of hours on trail rides, at the casino, on a cruise ship, and telling stories of her youth to her grandkids and great-grandkids. These stories always included the shenanigans created by her and her best friend Iris. She spent the majority of her years in the Hurley community creating memories and lifelong friendships. Joan’s many experiences and connections gave her inspiration for her poetry.

She married Junior Clines in 1951, and from this union two sons were born. Family was always an important part of her life. From the Sunday dinners at her mother’s house to card games around the table, Joan was always happiest when surrounded by loved ones.

Preceding her in death is her grandmother, Gae Sullivan, parents, Lincoln and Opal Wise, brother, Jerry Wise, sister, Ruby Wise Cargile, husband, Ray Eubanks, and partner, Jess Shipman.

Joan is survived by two sons, Jackie (Janet) Clines, and Joe Clines, stepsons, Kevin and Mike Eubanks, and her brother, Larry (Nisha) Wise. She is also survived by her granddaughters, Jaclynn (David) Mais, and Emily (Shane) Gamble and great-grandchildren Lincoln and Monroe Mais, and Jaxon and Ella Gamble.

The family would love to thank the Ozark Methodist Manor and all who work there for their continuous love and care that they showed Joan.
