Josephine Ann Winther, Kimberling City, MO, the daughter of Andrew and Alice (Hlinak) Cmeyla, was born April 27, 1939, in Algoma, WI, and departed this life on July 24, 2023, at the age of 84.

Josephine served in the United States Naval Reserves.

In April of 1963, she was united in marriage to Gary A. Winther.

Membership was held in the Our Lady of the Cove Catholic Church, Kimberling City, MO, American Legion of Kimberling City and the Southern Stone County Fire Protection District Auxiliary.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Gary A. Winther, and her parents, Andrew and Alice Cmeyla.

Josephine is survived by one son, David Winther of Kimberling City, MO, and one daughter, Donna Compton of Kimberling City, MO, a brother, Dave, five sisters; Kathy, Bernice, Elaine, Janet and Mary and one granddaughter, Lillian Compton.

A graveside service is set for 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 28, 2023, at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, MO.  Family and friends are requested to meet at the cemetery.  There will be a Celebration of Life Memorial Mass at the Our Lady of the Cove Catholic Church at a later date.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home, Kimberling City, MO.
