Lorina Kathern Thurman, Marionville, MO, daughter of Amos A and Sadie (McGraw) Martin, was born on February 26, 1932 in Dixie, West Virginia, and departed this life on May 21, 2020, at the age of 88.

Kathern married Joe Thurman on August 21, 1953 and they moved from St. Louis, MO to Marionville, MO in 1959. She worked at Vaisey Bristol shoe factory in Aurora, MO then at Jumping Jacks in Marionville and Monett, MO eventually retiring in 1995. Kathern was a member of the Crane Bible Baptist Church, Crane MO and the VFW Auxiliary 7628, Ozark, MO.

Kathern was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joe Lynn Thurman; and siblings, Willis Martin, Mabel Hill, Alice Beard, Amos Darwin Martin, Mary Chinal, Nina Fletcher, Ray Martin and Jerri Carrier.

Survivors include: daughter, Terry Woodruff and husband, Jim of Marionville, MO; son, David Thurman and wife, Mary of Wheelerville, MO; brother, Marvin Martin of Poca, West Virginia; five grandchildren, Amanda, Amos, Aaron, Andrew and Sarah; eight great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2020 in Stumpff Funeral Chapel, Crane, MO. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2020 in Stumpff Funeral Chapel, Crane, MO with Bob Sharp and Tim Sweeney officiating. Burial will be in Leann Cemetery, Leann, MO under the direction of Stumpff Funeral Home, Crane, MO.
