Obituary

Lenora Jones died peacefully on Thursday, February 11, 2021 in her home in Independence, Missouri surrounded by love. Lenora was born in the Missouri township of Flat Creek on June 9, 1926 to parents, Susie (Foster) and Christopher Columbus Haynes. She married James "Earl" Jones on May 3, 1946 and they were married for 67 years. They lived and farmed in the Wolley Creek, Missouri area, then moved to Quincy, California for a while, and later moved to Independence, Missouri in 1953. After high school, Lenora attended college a couple of summers so she could teach school (grades first through eighth) a couple of years in the Cape Fair area and one in California. She and Earl were blessed with two children, Jimmie Lee and Jeanie Sue. When the children started school, she worked part time at Benton Elementary School in Independence and then went to work for the Examiner Newspaper and worked there for 20 years. She was a member of the Edgewater Baptist Church in Cape Fair, Missouri.

Lenora was a great cook and loving parent. She loved attending Jim's baseball games from Little League through his college years, attending school activities for Jim and Jeanie, plus the grandkids and great grandkids activities, and celebrating every birthday and highlight of family member's lives. She always was welcoming of friends, whether they were her friends, her children's, or grandchildren's, into her home. She was a very loving, caring person.

Lenora was preceded in death by her husband, Earl; her parents, Susie and Christopher Columbus Haynes; brother, Ralph Waldo Haynes; sister in law, Olive Jane Haynes; and sister, Lou Ellen Haynes. She is survived by her son, Jimmie Jones (Sharon/"Sherrie") of Buckner, Missouri and daughter, Jeanie Eilerman (Mark) of Hillsboro, Missouri. She was blessed with five grandchildren, Jesse Winchester (Linda) of Buckner, MO, Shara Davis (Eric) of McKinney, TX, Christopher Winchester (Sarah) of Hillsboro, MO, Tara Diehl (John) of Lee's Summit, MO and Timothy Jones (Angela) of Shawnee, KS. Lenora was also blessed with nine great grandchildren, Katelyn Winchester, Isla Davis, Taylor EversMeyer, Christopher Winchester II, Kaleigh Winchester, Quinn Winchester, Grant Diehl, and Colette Nora Diehl. She is survived by many other extended family members who she loved dearly.

Celebration of her life was held on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cape Fair Cemetery, Cape Fair, MO. Burial was under the direction of Stumpff Funeral Home, Crane, MO
