Obituary

Leonard Lee Duncan, age 88, passed away peacefully, with his wife by his side, on Tuesday, June 9th, 2026.

Leonard was born on January 9, 1938, in Madison, Kansas, to Ethel Hoobler Duncan and John Duncan. He spent his childhood in Kansas and graduated from Augusta high schoool in 1958. Augusta is where he met the love of his life, Annavee Williams. Despite Annavee’s sisters’ memorable attempt to sabotage their first date with chocolate-covered cotton balls, Leonard and Annavee went on to build a beautiful life together, sharing 64 years of marriage and raising two sons, Keith and Neil.

Leonard proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1958 to 1961, earning the Good Conduct Medal during his service. After leaving the military, he built a successful career in insurance and financial management, living and working in Kansas, Iowa, and Missouri. After raising their sons in Springfield, Leonard and Annavee moved to Table Rock Lake, where Leonard founded Lakefront Financial Services and continued serving his community until retirement.

Leonard believed in hard work, loyalty, and the beauty of a Hawaiian sunset. He was an avid bowler and twice a member of the 700 Club. He was also a dedicated and accomplished golfer at Ledgestone Country Club, where he earned the distinction of being the club’s first Club Champion and achieved the rare feat of a hole-in-one. Golf was one of his greatest passions, and he treasured every round shared with family and friends-particularly on an island in Hawaii.

Above all, Leonard was devoted to his family. Some of their most cherished memories were made on boat rides across the lake, on the golf course, or gathered around the table enjoying meals. Following their honeymoon at Silver Dollar City, Leonard and Annavee were longtime season pass holders and never missed a festival, proudly collecting ornaments each year as keepsakes of their adventures.

Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, Ethel and John Duncan, and his brothers, William, Gene, and Johnnie.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Annavee Duncan; his sons, Keith Duncan and Neil Duncan (Kathy); his grandchildren, Wendy Lewis (Todd) and Kyler Duncan (Chelsie); and his great-grandchildren: Myla, Owen, and Logan Lewis, and Layton Duncan.

Whether on the golf course, at the bowling alley, in a church pew on Sunday or enjoying life at the lake, Leonard valued the friendships and memories made along the way. Leonard's legacy lives on through the family he loved, the friendships he cherished, and the countless memories he created throughout a life well lived.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Kimberling City Methodist Church, where Leonard and Annavee were proud and faithful members.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at 11am at Kimberling City Methodist Church.
