Obituary

Born February 15, 1948, in Los Angeles, California, Maria Meza Aguilera was the beloved daughter of Emma and Manuel Aguilera. She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Manuel Jr. Aguilar and Gussie Mustain.
Maria lived life with a fearless and generous spirit. She was adventurous, independent, kind, and deeply giving to those around her. She found joy in dancing, horses, and especially traveling—passions that shaped her remarkable life.
At just 20 years old, Maria became the owner of a travel agency located at the Farmers Market in Los Angeles, a reflection of her drive and love for exploration. She went on to travel the world and embraced every adventure along the way. Her passion for travel was so great that she earned her pilot's license at a young age, fulfilling a lifelong dream of flight.
Later, Maria continued her career in travel while working at Los Angeles International Airport. After many years at LAX, she embarked on a new chapter in the trucking industry, where she built lasting relationships and considered the carriers she worked with not just colleagues, but family.
In 2015, Maria embarked on a new adventure when she moved to Missouri to join her sister Gussie. She spent her final years in Cape Fair, where she enjoyed a quieter life filled with reflection, creativity, and peace.
One of Maria's most recent and meaningful accomplishments was opening a dance studio, where she was able to teach and share what she loved most—dance. Through music and movement, she continued to inspire joy, confidence, and connection in others.
Maria is survived by her beloved nieces, Alex and Rosie, and many friends who will forever cherish her memory, her stories, and the example she set of living boldly and with an open heart.
Maria's life was a beautiful journey marked by courage, curiosity, and love. Though she has taken her final flight, her spirit will continue to dance in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
