Obituary

Mary McCullough

Born December 13, 1933 in Reeds Spring Missouri to Jake and Viola Rantz, left for her heavenly home on January 31, 2025 at the age of 91.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Denzel McCullough, her brother Herman Eugene Rantz, and sister-in-law, and Judith (Tolbert) Rantz.

Marylou, as she was affectionately known by her family and friends was married to Denzel and celebrated 30 years of marriage were they enjoyed the hard-working life of taking care of horses and cattle, yard work, and fishing in their flat bottom boat. Marylou loved gospel music, taking in Branson shows, and was a member of the Eisenhower 65 Church plus frequent visitor to the Living Waters United Pentecostal Church in Abesville.

She was employed for several years at the Reed Spring garment factory and Crane manufacturing before taking a leave to help her mother through medical issues. Marylou was a humble, kind, and sweet soul that preferred to put others before herself. This was never more true than how she cared for her mother. Shepherd of the Hills rounded out her last employment and was a job she fully enjoyed while making many friends and lifelong memories.

Mary did not have children however she was active in the lives of her nieces. Weekly family gatherings, Easter, and Christmas hold very fond memories of a $1bill in Christmas cards, Easter egg hunts, skipping rocks in the pond, going fishing, and her home made pies (no one could make crust like her!)

Mary retired in Springfield to be closer to family and will be greatly missed by her three nieces Sharon Gritzo, Patty Keagel and Melissa Herman. Great nephews and nieces Richard, Jedidiah, and Joshua Gritzo, Brittany and Lewie Keagel, Christopher and Katie Herman. 8 great great nieces and nephews, and 4 great great greats. She also leaves a special friend Thelma Stultz who will sadly miss her sisterhood and friendship.
