Norman Lee
Bare
Jan 29, 1940 — Oct 4, 2021
Kimberling City
Norman Lee Bare of Kimberling City, Missouri, son of Charles and Ethel (Bice) Bare was born January 29, 1940, in Independence, Iowa and departed this life on October 4, 2021 at the age of 81.
>
> Norman married his best friend and the love of his life, Leatrice (Lindemann) Bare on February 22, 1974, in Waterloo, Iowa.
>
> After spending several years in Waterloo working at John Deere and completing a technical degree as a Tool & Die Maker, he moved to Hayesville, Kansas and worked at Boeing International. Norman landed a position in the Research & Development lab of Boeing, where he worked as the only master machinist among a group of engineers. His ability to take an idea from an engineer and develop functional parts that others thought were impossible to manufacture led to numerous instances of recognition in his career. He was proud to work with these engineers and he loved his job.
>
> Upon retirement, Norman and his wife moved to Kimberling City, where they became an integral part of their community. And, he could indulge in another of his passions - woodworking.
>
> Many heirloom-quality pieces were created in his workshop, including a wood chest for each grandchild that will last for generations. Norman was one to strive for accuracy and perfection in the construction of his projects and he loved to tell people how they were made. He also freely gave his help to anyone that needed something made or fixed, whether from wood or other materials.
>
> Norman was an adventurer, as well. Be it a cruise to see the raw beauty of Alaska or a trip to explore the old cities of Europe, he enjoyed seeing the world. His favorite thing to see, though, was family. He always looked forward to visits from various family members, especially his children. The main event, however, was seeing his grandchildren. Swimming at the dock, fishing in the boat or a day at Silver Dollar City with his grandchildren always made his heart happy and full of love.
>
> Norman was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Leatrice Bare; son, James Gillette; brothers Gifford Bare and Keith Bare; sisters Lois Huber, Mary Eva Nelson and Margaret Jean Croal.
>
> Survivors include two sons, Greg Bare and wife, Tracy, of Waukesha, Wisconsin and Jeff Bare and wife, Jai, of Carthage, North Carolina; two daughters, Susan Gillette and husband, Bryan Camp, of Lubbock, Texas and Katherine Dom and husband, Matt, of Columbia Heights, Minnesota, daughter-in-law Louise Wendler of Annandale Virginia; six grandchildren, Sonia Bare, Julia Bare, Jacquelin Bare, Lillian Camp, Kunal Camp and Taylor Dom; special friend Loni Bailles, as well as a host of other family and friends.
>
> Memorial Service will be on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 2pm, at the Kimberling City United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to be made to the WEB Kid's program with the United Methodist church in Kimberling City.
