Obituary

Patrick O’Neill, beloved husband, father, veteran, and friend, passed away on July 2, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on May 31, 1944, in Dickinson, North Dakota to Bertha Fern and Charles Shannon O’Neill.

Pat‘s life changed forever when he met the love of his life, Janice Diers, on a blind date at a local bowling alley. What began as a chance meeting blossomed into a lifelong partnership. They were married on July 26, 1969, and together built a marriage filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion.

Together, Pat and Jan welcomed two children, Jacqueline and Ryan, who were the pride and joy of their lives.

Pat proudly served his country in the United States Army for 23 years, including two tours of duty as a helicopter pilot in Vietnam. When he retired, he was a Lieutenant Colonel working as the Provost Marshal at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. His military career reflected his courage, dedication and commitment to serving others. After retiring from the Army, Pat and Jan embarked on a new adventure by opening and operating their own business in San Antonio, Texas, where they worked side by side for 15 years.

Following a second retirement, Pat and Jan settled in the Ozarks, where he embraced a slower pace of life. He loved following the stock market during the week and found great happiness boating on the lake, enjoying the beauty of the water and creating lasting memories with family. Whether spending a day on the computer or simply appreciating the peaceful surroundings on the lake, these moments brought him tremendous joy.

Pat will be remembered for his strength, quiet determination, deep love for his family, and the life of service he lived. His legacy of dedication, hard work, and steadfast love will continue to inspire those who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Shannon and Ferne and his stepfather, Cecil Risser.

He is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 57 years, Janice; his children, Jacqueline and Ryan; his daughter-in-law, Tara; his two grandsons, Jackson and Brooks; and his faithful dog, Piper, who remained a constant companion.

Patrick’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
