Phyllis Jean
Sharp
Sep 27, 1946 — Mar 29, 2022
Branson
Phyllis Jean Sharp was born on September 27,1946 to her parents Alex and Minette Sharp in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She passed away on March 29, 2022 in Branson Missouri.
Phyllis graduated from Tulsa Central High School and attended the University Of Central Oklahoma (UCO) and graduated with a BA in Education. She taught Physical Education at Putnam City Central in Oklahoma City for several years before moving to Branson, Missouri to open a business.
As a youth, Phyllis was a gifted athlete and an excellent softball pitcher. She and her younger sister Sandy played for the Springdale Tomboys, and as young adults played in the Tulsa City Softball League, travelling to numerous tournaments. Had there been college scholarships for women at that time she would have dreamed of playing for the Oklahoma Sooners.
Her family called her "lucky" because as a 10 year old, she won a Schwinn bicycle in a local Tulsa television contest sponsored by the Golden Drumstick Restaurant. She applied for the contest on her own and said from the start she was sure she would win. Twelve bikes were to be given away and each week she held fast that she would win. She did win on the last bike. She carried that optimism through life.
Phyllis co owned and operated Gold Reflections Jewelry and Gifts in Branson with her business partner and best friend Becky Smith. They were very active in the community in Branson and developed many great friendships there.
Phyllis is survived by her brother and his wife Glenn and Polly Sharp, Oklahoma City, and close friends Yo and Dave Christian, Branson, and Jack and Laura Smith, of Miami. She was preceded in death by her parents Alex and Minette Sharp, her sister Sandy Sharp Cloy, Tulsa, her stepmother Joy Sharp, Coweta, and Becky Smith of Branson, Missouri.
The family is grateful to Yo Christian, Jack Smith, and Cox Medical Center for the extensive care and friendship given to Phyllis during her extended illness. Services are under the direction of Stumpff Funeral Home in Kimberling City, MO. Visitation will be the evening of Thursday, March 31. 2022, from 6-8 pm.
