Obituary

Sandra Jean Copperstone, West Branson, MO, daughter of Sanford and Dorothy Schaffroth, was born on November 5, 1942 in Hastings, NE. She departed this life on January 9, 2023, at the age of 80.

Sandy lived a big part of her life in Ankeny, Iowa where she was a secretary for the First United Methodist Church and where her kids were raised. She had many friends through her 15 years working at the church as well as through her golfing at Ankeny Golf and Country Club. Gary was transferred to Winnipeg, Canada for work where they lived a short time before having the opportunity to move back to Omaha, Nebraska where she enjoyed time with her sister and family before retiring to Branson, Missouri. She and Gary moved to Stonebridge Village in July of 2001 in search of their love of golf and found it in Ledgestone Country Club. For several years, she also was the organizer of golf games for the Ledgestone Ladies Golf League. Along with golf, the winter months soon led her to explore her love of cards and board games. She organized a simple but fun card game of Skipbo and eventually garnered the name "Skipbo Queen." She also was given the honor at the Ledgestone Grill of a glass engraved with "Skipbo Queen" and reserved for her whenever she ordered something to drink. She would relish the times she would be able to spend with her daughter shopping and having lunch, golfing with her grandsons and trips to New Mexico and Arizona to visit her son Tim and his family.

Sandy is survived by husband Gary of Branson West, MO; one daughter, Becki Cutler and husband Derek of St. Louis, MO; one son, Tim Copperstone and wife, Cheryl of Troy, MT; four grandchildren, Amy Richter of Troy, MT, Chance Copperstone and wife Jamie of Tucson, AZ, Zach Cutler of St. Louis, MO, Cole Cutler of St. Louis, MO; three great grandchildren, Brody Richter, Michael Richter, Torsten Copperstone; one sister, Judy Tonkin of Omaha, NE and her children Brad, Julie, Lisa, Tracy and a host of other family and friends.
