Obituary

Our beloved son, father, papa, and friend, Scott Allen Curtis, passed away November 28, 2022 in Springfield, MO. He was 62.

Scott was born the first child of LoRita Ada (Roquette) Curtis and Myron (Jim) James Curtis on October 16, 1960 in St. Paul, MN. Throughout Scott's childhood he loved to swim, camp, and be outdoors. He attended Branson High School where he played football as a Branson Pirate and graduated in 1977. After high school he attended St. Louis Community College where he obtained his associates degree in Hospitality and Restaurant Management afterwards he attended MSU where he studied Business Management with a minor Business Law. He used this education throughout his entire career as a business owner of hotels, restaurants, and Slides. Inc.

While Scott's career was important to him, his family and friends were his world. Scott's biggest life accomplishment began in 1986 when he became a father and later on received his favorite title of "Papa". He had 4 children and considered himself lucky to be their father. He was always proud of anything that they did and called often to let them know as well as making sure that they knew that he loved them, even until his last hours on earth. Scott was always there for them through their ups and downs and taught them to enjoy every moment life has to offer no matter how tough it is. He also cherished his mother, LoRita, and made sure that she knew it as much as possible as well. Scott's love was unconditional.

Scott loved being with his people and dogs, so naturally his joy was found in hobbies that revolved around those things. He was an avid coon hunter, raising and hunting many champion hounds, loved riding his horses, hunting all animals all over the country on mule as well as fishing. His favorite place to be was on his ranch, C Barr Ranch, where he raised Limousine and Santa Gertrudis cattle. Many lifelong friends were made by him throughout high school, running businesses, hunting with friends, and ranching.

Scott will always be remembered for his friendly conversations, hilarious experiences, nicknames for all of the important people in his life, and adventures by all who knew him.

Scott was preceded in death by his father, Myron James Curtis, and a brother, Steven Curtis.

He is survived by his mother, LoRita Curtis, Nixa MO; four children, Angie Coy (Matthew) of Sheldon MO, Emily Grider (Kyle) of Highlandville MO, Scott Curtis Jr. (Taylor) of Galena MO, Lacie Curtis (Jamison) of Crane MO; 17 grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter; brother, Kevin Curtis, Walnut Shade, MO; sister, Betty Wilson, Springfield, MO; his little dog, Miley that he loved so much and many, many friends that he considered family.
