Obituary

Sondra Christine "Christy" Townsend  of Halltown Missouri was born in Taney County on June the 15th in 1957 to Ray and Teddy Taylor.  Christy passed away on January the 9th after a challenging battle with renal disease.  She was preceded in death by her Parents and her beloved nephew Cody Taylor.  Christy is survived by her brother Randy Taylor and his wife Sarah of Miller; her sister Hope Wilson of Halltown; her nephew Justin Taylor and his fiancé Heather of St Louis; and nephew Chance Taylor and his fiancé Jeannie of Miller; niece, Kora Wilson of Springfield; great nieces and nephews Charlie, Aymie, Emmly, Lilly and Daxton;  her very  special aunt Frances Pringle of Broken Arrow Oklahoma; her fur babies and many many cousins and friends.

Christy graduated from the European Division of the University of Maryland with an Associates Degree in Liberal Arts.  Following her graduation she was a Sergeant in the US Army with her duties being in military intelligence.  Following an honorable discharge from the Army, Christy earned her insurance license and began her career in that industry in California.  Her Mother's passing called Christy back to Missouri.  She continued her insurance career in Missouri as a Commercial Accounts Manager, which is the position she held at Barker Phillips Jackson at the time of her passing.  Christy's constant desire to learn something new led her to earn the designations of Certified Insurance Service Representative and Certified Insurance Counselor.

Always one to think of others before herself, Christy was active in many civic and volunteer organizations.  She was a member of the CCCC Sertoma Club and later the Queen City Sertoma Club. Through her involvement in those clubs, Christy made many friends. Unknownst to many, she was also a CASA volunteer, which involved her being a court appointed special advocate for children.

Christy's caring way, wonderful smile and unforgettable (loud) laugh will remain in her Family and Friends' minds forever.  She was a wonderful, selfless person who will be missed by all that knew her.
